Maryann Trauger, 79 years of Mandan, passed away 17 May 2019 at Sanford Health, Bismarck. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, 22 May 2019 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Nick Schneider as celebrant.  Burial was held at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday, 21 May 2019 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. 

Maryann was born 12 May 1940 to James and Ann (Lorenz) Fairfield in Valley City, ND.  She was raised and educated in Valley City and attended Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD.

On 10 August 1963 Maryann married the love of her life, Paul Trauger. 

Maryann served as Secretary of the Bismarck Chief of Police Department for 3 years, followed by 35 years as Data Processing Coordinator of the North Dakota Legislative Council.  During this time, she also helped her husband, Paul, in raising quarter horses and Angus cattle.  She retired in 2011 to focus on her family.

Maryann had a fondness for caring for flowers, roses being her favorite.  She also collected many decorative dishware and Christmas memorabilia.  She enjoyed reading Romance novels and various home-centric magazines in her spare time. 

Maryann will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 55 years, Paul; son, Jeff of Mandan, ND; 4 grandchildren, Cole, PJ, Tawnie, and Jasmine Trauger; 1 great-grandchild, Gabriel Myers; sister, Verna (Vern) Masterson of Greely, CO; brothers, Mark (Carol) of Fargo, ND and Dan (Rhonda) of Valley City, ND; sister-in-law, Jan Bond of Bismarck, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lynn Fairfield; and grandson, Frank.
