Badtke, Jim

Died: 22 January 2008

Jim Badtke, 42 years, died suddenly of natural causes in January. He was the dear son of Janet (Gerner) Badtke and the late Donald Badtke and the beloved brother of Douglas. He is also survived by a niece, his aunt and uncle, Carol (Gerner) and Lester Schultz, several cousins and his fiancee, Jill.

Jim was an Eagle Scout, graduated from college, and enjoyed golf and baseball. In the spirit of helping others, Jim had specified the wish to be an organ donor which was carried out at his death.

His memorial service was very unique, in that four of his friends each wrote and read a tribute to him. Jill, his fiance, also wrote a letter to him which the minister read. The friends who participated were his long time friend from Niles, his original college roommate, his best friend from Tennessee and his best friend from California. Their messages were events they shared, both serious and humorous and were very touching. Everyone who attended said they left feeling they now really knew him, and wished they had known him better. They (including the minister) said they had never attended such a meaningful service.

Jim is listed on page 341 of the 4th edition of the Seidemann Family Tree book.
