Roy Merlin Crass, 83 years, passed away on Wednesday, 30 March 2011, at Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dodge County, Wisconsin

He was born on 24 May 1927, to Joseph and Edna (nee Gerner) Crass in Phelps, Wisconsin. Roy married Frances (nee Mergenthaler) on 11 September 1947 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Slinger, Wisconsin

. He enlisted in the Navy at age 15 with his twin brother, Ray. He was a Machinist’s Mate 3rd Class (CB) USNR and served during WWII. He enjoyed educating children about WWII. He also enjoyed remodeling with his daughter and was an avid hunter and gardener. Roy was a member of Underage Veterans, Laborers Union Local 113, and past-president of Washington County Snowmobile Association.

Roy is survived by his wife, Frances; children, Royce and Joyce (“John Witczak”) Witczak; grandchildren, John (Wendy), Troy (Pam), Andrew, Ryan (Stephanie), Melanie Crass, Kelly Koenig, Angela (Lee) Wenninger, Gregory (Michelle) Schlink, Frances (Kyle) Ellenberger, and John (“Kaylee Alexander”) Witczak; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald and Bruce of Phelps, Everett of Land O’ Lakes, and Phillip of West Bend. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.

Private services were held.

The family would like to extend a special ‘thank you’ to Malissa and Mae from Mayville Nursing & Rehab and Pastor Jim with St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mayville.

Roy is pictured in the 4th edition of the Friedrich Seidemann Family Tree Book on page 229 in a four generation picture and page 231 with his brother Ray. He is listed on page 299 with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He is a 5th generation descendant of Friedrich and Rosine Seidemann and his genealogy line is as follows: Friedrich, Johanna, William, Edna, and Roy.
