Ericksen, Elmer A. 81 years, passed away on Thursday, 30 April 2009 at Harbor House. He was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on 10 June 1927, the son of Anker and Emmy (nee: Jorgensen) Ericksen. On 27 May 1950 he was united in marriage to Audrey Buchman at Bethania Lutheran Church.
Elmer served in the United States Army during World War II. Elmer was a member of Bethania Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge and Danish Brotherhood. He had been employed with Moxness and had worked for many years in construction, including Welling Construction. Elmer built the family home and continued to enjoy woodworking. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking.
Surviving are three daughters, Claudia (Milo) Jekich, Cindy Ericksen and Carolyn (fiancée Roger Jorgensen) Ericksen; son, Ken (Gail) Ericksen; seven grandchildren, Joe, Lisa (John), April, Tiffany, Amanda, Amy and Aaron; 10 great grandchildren; brother and sisters, Fayna “Helene” (Ben) Wasik, Jens (Kay) Ericksen and Elsie Thompson; brother-in-law, Art Petzke. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey on 6 July 1980; sister, Doris Petzke; and brother-in-law, Bob Thompson.
Services will be held at Bethania Lutheran Church, 4120 Wright Ave. on Monday, 4 May 2009 at 11 A.M. with Rev. Steve Wohlfeil officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the church on Monday before services from 10 A.M. until service time.
