Shelby “Shellie” Jean Koenig, 71, passed away on March 4, 2022, at Froedtert West Bend Hospital.
Shellie was born on October 26, 1950, in West Bend to the late Floyd and Marjorie (nee Schubert) Diels. She was united in marriage to Gene Koenig on August 1, 1992. She was deeply in love with her High School sweetheart, Gene, who would give flowers to Shellie throughout their marriage. Her favorite flowers were roses. They held hands until the time of Gene’s passing. Gene passed away on August 4, 2021. Shellie was a devout Christian, who had deep faith in the Lord. Shellie enjoyed camping, going up north, also her time as a homemaker. Shellie enjoyed fishing in flannel and looking good at all times. She loved her family and her dog, Toto.
Those Shellie leaves behind to cherish her memory include four children, Sheila (Dale) Bruder, Kimberlee (Timothy) Bechler, David (DJ) Koenig, and Shannon (John) Davies; a step-daughter, Dawn (John) Olson; four grandsons, Aron (Macey) Bechler, Connor (Nicole) Bechler, Kyle Koenig, and Dylan Koenig; a brother, Dwayne “Butch” (Janet) Diels; a sister-in-law, Mary Diels; a great-granddaughter, Oaklee Bechler; a god-daughter, Jenny “Jena” (John) Carr; two godsons, Scott Diels and John Henschel; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shellie is preceded in death by a brother, Floyd “Sonny” Diels Jr; a brother, Michael Diels who passed in infancy; uncle, LeRoy Diels.
At Shellie’s request no service will be held.
The family would like to thank to doctors, nurses, and staff at Froedtert West Bend Hospital, and Dr. Colin Mooney and the staff at Kraemer Cancer Center for their care and compassion. Especially her Lung Specialist Dr. Eric Olaffsonn.
