Phillips, Lois J.

Died: 2 January 2021

Lois J. (Trepte) Phillips, age 91years, of Brookfield, died peacefully on 2 January 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late William (Bill) R. Phillips and a dear Mother of Christie (Robert) Rothstein, Sandra (Frank Jr.) Fetzer, Robin (Richard) Gryphan, Michael (Jamie) Phillips, Patrick Phillips (deceased) and daughter-in-law Nancy Phillips (Steve Schwartz). Also, a loving Grandma Lo to Sara (Kevin) Kluender, Frank III (Stacy) Fetzer, Kelly (Tyler) Grissman, William (Sarah Collins) Fetzer, Guy (Ann) Gryphan, Patrick Phillips, Michaela (Jeremy) Weber, and Andrew (Amanda) Phillips. Proud Great-Grandma of Kyle and Alex Kluender, Frank IV and Emily Fetzer, Lucy and Grace Grissman, Rosemary and Theodore Fetzer, Reese, Abigail, and Danielle Gryphan, and Ryanne, Madison, and Molly Phillips. Lois was preceded in death by brothers Donald Trepte and Ralph Trepte.

Lois loved to travel the world with Bill and their family. She was an avid bridge player. Lois loved to swim with her friends and family – she amazed everyone with her uncanny ability to float sitting upright. Lois was a passionate sports fan – usually the loudest fan in the crowd – cheering for her Badgers, Packers, and Brewers and filling up her swear jar. Her friends and family could always count on Lois to be game for any adventure – her go bag was always packed. Lois’ favorite line was “it’s noon somewhere, pour me a MGD – in a chilled glass!” She gave back to her community as a Pink Lady at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital for over 45 years, was active in her Women’s Church Circle at Elm Grove United Methodist Church and the Brookfield Women’s Club, and generously supported numerous charities and organizations.

Lois will be forever missed by friends and family. A celebration of Lois’s life will be held when it is safe for us to gather together again. Until then, enjoy your favorite beverage in a chilled glass in her memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alzheimer’s Association of Southeastern Wisconsin at alz.org in Lois’s honor are appreciated.

Special thanks to the staff of Azura Memory Care and St. Croix Hospice and dear friends and family for their love and care of Lois in her final years. To share your condolences, remembrances and photos of Lois, please visit https://www.schmidtandbartelt.com/.
