Pofahl, Evelyn A.

Evelyn Alice (Chesak) Pofahl passed into the loving arms of her Savior on 5 July 2017 at the age of 96. Evelyn is survived by her children, James Pofahl, Jr. and wife Barbara of Lubbock, TX; Robert Pofahl and wife Karen of Las Cruces, NM; and David Pofahl and wife Melanie of Charlotte, NC; and eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, James Pofahl Sr., and by her daughter, Ann Louise Pofahl Duff. 

Evelyn was born 31 December 1920 in Newburg, WI, Evelyn move to El Paso at the age of 16 and graduated from El Paso High School. She dedicated her life to serving her Lord, raising her four children and loving her family. Mom loved her church and spent untold hours in different areas of service and ministry. She and dad volunteered countless hours for the Ysleta Lutheran Mission, visiting shut-ins, and serving at Zion Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed supporting UTEP sports, the El Paso Symphony, and community theatre. A memorial service was held on Saturday 8 July 2017 at 10am at Zion Lutheran Church, 2800 Pershing St. Evelyn’s family will miss their loving “Gramma” and will always remember her humming a tune, bouncing with energy, and loving everyone around her. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Bernardo and Rose Cisneros and their wonderful staff at the adult foster care home where mom and dad have resided the last four years and to Kathleen Harris of Envision Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Zion Lutheran Church.

Evelyn in pictured in the 4th edition of the Friedrich Seidemann Family Tree Book on page74 with her husband and children and also with her husband, children and grandchildren. She is also pictured on page 426 playing the accordion at the 5th Seidemann Family Reunion in 1938. Evelyn and her husband Jim are listed as donors to the Seidemann Family Tree Book on page xi and on page 134 with her parents, husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is a fifth generation descendant of Friedrich and Rosine Seidemann and her genealogy line is as follows: Friedrich, Traugott, Clara, Anita, and Evelyn.
