Pofahl, James W “Jim”, Sr. 96 years, passed away on 16 February 2016 with his wife Evelyn (Chesak) Pofahl of 74 years at his side. 

Jim is survived by his wife, his children; Jim Pofahl, Jr and his wife Barbara of El Paso, Texas, Robert Pofahl and wife Karen of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and David Pofahl and wife Melanie of Charlotte, North Carolina; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. His daughter, Ann Louise Duff, passed away in 2013.

Born on 10 January 1920 in El Paso to Walter and Louise Pofahl, Jim graduated from Austin High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1945. He retired from the El Paso Natural Gas Company in 1983 after 37 years. He spent many years pursuing hobbies of scale model railroads and classic cars. He was a member of The Horseless Carriage Club. Jim served for 75 years at Zion Lutheran Church. He and Evelyn were married at Zion on 6 September 1941, and they served at Ysleta Lutheran Mission and other faith based organizations.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, 20 February 2016 at 1:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church, 2800 Pershing St. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be sent to Zion Lutheran Church. Jim’s family will miss their loving “Papa” and will always remember him with his engineer’s cap, commanding the Lionel train collection.

Jim and Evelyn are listed on page xi as Donors to the 4th Edition Seidemann Family Book, on page 134 with his family, and pictured on page 74 also with his family. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.
