Rosane, Dee Ann

Dee Ann (Sargent) Rosane, 63 years, passed away peacefully in her favorite chair in her home in Rapid City on 7 March 2017. 

She was born 7 January 1954 to Floyd and Ruth Sargent in Broken Bow, Nebraski and grew up in Bennett County, South Dakota. She attended Central School, than BCHS when the family moved into Martin, South Dakota. 

Dee Ann participated in 4-H, making baked goods and craft items for entry at the county fair and other competitions. She enjoyed riding horses. Dee Ann served as a Past Honored Queen in Job’s Daughters in Martin, as well as a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter in Gordon, Nebraski. 

After high school, she married Douglas Rosane and they moved to Gordon, Nebraski. Daughter Jennifer was born 12 June 1984. Later, they bought the KOA Campground near Hot Springs, South Dakota, which Dee Ann managed for 7 years. After their marriage ended, Dee Ann owned and operated Gold “N” Dreams, her own retail gift shop in Hot Springs for several years, then moved to Rapid City. She worked in retail stores for the rest of her career, including at Sears, Herberger’s and Walmart, as a customer service and management associate. Dee Ann was often recognized for excellent service and customer care by management, her peers and customers. She liked helping people. Dee Ann was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed making quilts and making useful things with beautifully sewn patterns. She began collecting as a young adult, gathering over 40 Anniversary Barbie dolls. She always shared her home with the dogs and cats she loved. 

Dee Ann was always glad to see you, always had a smile, always remembered your birthday with a card, and enjoyed giving what she could, including a hug. Dee Ann always conducted herself with an incredible level of strength and tenacity. This was seen in the cute, blonde, curly-haired little 2 ½-year old who needed glasses to the strong, independent woman of adulthood. She addressed struggles in life with a smile, a laugh, an ease with strangers and friends and with a deep caring for others. She enjoyed people and worked quietly alongside expecting their best. 

She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Rosane, Tempe, Arizona, siblings Ronald Sargent, Custer, South Dakota, Barbara (Dave) Sargent-Hamilton, LaVeta, Colorado, Roy Sargent, Lafayette, Colorado and Ken Sargent, Westminster, CO. Also by nieces Kristi Sargent, Newport Beach, CA, Isabella and Sophia Sargent, Westminster, South Dakota and nephews Cory (Lauryn) Sargent, Ouray, Colorado, KC Sargent, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Andy and Dan Sargent, Lafayette, Colorado.  

She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Ruth Sargent.
