Chad A. Sturdevant, age 48 died on Thursday, 7 December 2023.  He was born on 24 November 1975 in Madison, WI the son of Thomas and Lynn (Bald) Sturdevant.  Chad grew up in Belleville, WI and graduated from Belleville High School in 1994.  Chad married Nicole Larson and they had two children.  In 2007 he was united in marriage to Rebecca Gerner on the beach in Jamaica.  Chad enlisted in the United States Army in 2000 and would serve his country through three deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan until 2017.  After his military service Chad realized his dream to be a farmer.  Chad had a passion for agriculture and farming.  He was often called upon by others to assist on their farms, especially to make repairs to equipment.  Chad had also worked for Field and Silo of Mount Horeb for several years.  In addition to farming Chad cherished the Sunday morning family breakfasts at Grandma Mary’s in Arena and his Tuesday’s babysitting his granddaughter.

Chad is survived by his wife Becky, children Thomas Sturdevant, Taylor (Malcolm Reed) Sturdevant, and Abigail Sturdevant, and grandchildren Amaya and Amyre Reed.  He is further survived by his parents, Thomas and Lynn Sturdevant, sister Michelle (Jim) Meier, brother Cory Sturdevant, niece Kailey (Dakota Steinke) Meier, nephew Bryson Meier, father-in-law Ed Gerner, and the rest of Becky’s family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Robert & Joan Bald and Calvin and Leota Sturdevant and mother-in-law Bonnie Gerner.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 13 December 2023 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI.  

A gathering will precede the memorial service from 11:00 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday, 13 December 2023 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home in Belleville.

You always believed that the good Lord would provide and He always had somehow. Take off your gloves and put them down, no more sweat and worry for you now.  Your labor is done, your home now is heaven; no more must you wait. Your legacy lives on, your love of the land, and we will close the gate.
