Wertmuth, Ella died peacefully on Wednesday 11 May 2011 at Westport Healthcare Center. A native of Cheriton, Va., Mrs. Wermuth was born 13 June 1924 to the late Rev. Theodore G. and Adelaide C. Laughon. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Scott H. Wermuth Jr.; her son, William E. Wermuth; her sister, Dorothy L. Whitt; and her brother, Samuel C. Laughon. Ella is survived by her sons, Samuel S. Wermuth and wife Donna S, and John G. Wermuth and wife Jeannie; granddaughters, Erin Wermuth, Sara Norton and husband, J.P., Lisa Wermuth, Alyse Wermuth and April Wermuth. 

She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Ella enthusiastically embraced life. She was a longtime active member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, where she shared her many gifts of music, sewing, crafts, cooking, spirituality, leadership, caring and love. She lived a life of faithful servanthood and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. 

The family received friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bliley’s – Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday 14 May at Lakeside United Methodist Church. Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ella’s memory to Lakeside United Methodist Church, 2333 Hilliard Rd., Henrico, Va. 23228, in care of Music Ministry. 

Ella is listed in the fourth edition of the Friedrich Seidemann Family Tree Book on page 207 with her husband Scott Wermuth, Jr, their three children, and their grandchildren.
