Wermuth, Robert P., 93 years, died 12 May 2011. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northern University in Evanston, Illinois and did postgraduate work at Harvard University. He spent five years of active duty in the U. S. Navy as a Lieutenant Commander and as C.O. of the U.S.S. Temptress (PG62) corvette, in the Atlantic, C.O. of the Sub chaser SC647 and C.O. of the U.S.S. Emery DE28 Destroyer Escort in the Pacific. 

Robert married Joan Laurette in 1943 and they moved to Southern California. They were blessed with two sons and three daughters. Robert had a distinguished 30-year career at North American Aviation, Inc., later Rockwell International, Inc. (now The Boeing Co.) in Downey, Calif., where he worked on the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs. Witnessing and being part of the growth and successes of the manned space program was an extremely rewarding experience for him. He was awarded for his accomplishments that contributed to the success of the Space Shuttle Program goals and for his leadership, mentoring and professional excellence. At the time of his retirement, he was Director of Subcontract Management. 

Robert married Janice Miller in 1988 and after moving to the desert in Cathedral City in 1991, they spent many years traveling, dancing, hiking and playing golf. He was a prolific reader, an avid sports fan, had a passion for political events and kept informed of the fast changing world. 

Robert was predeceased in death by his parents; his wife, Joan Wermuth; brother, Bill Wermuth; sister, Phyllis Storms; and son, Stephen Wermuth. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Janice Wermuth; son, Forrest (Ann) Wermuth; daughters, Mary Mulineau, Teri Wermuth and Laurie (Tom) Murphy; six grandchildren, Josette (Punit) Aggarwal, Peter Franklin (Tia), Katie (Matthias) Clark, Andrew Wermuth, Sean Murphy and Andrea Lloyd and her partner Jonathan Freeman; five great-grandchildren, Steven, Jazmine and Jade Franklin, Emily Clark and Kai Freeman; two step-great-grandchildren, Liz and Sequoia Clark; and nieces and nephews.

Robert is a 5th generation descendant of Friedrich and Rosina Seidemann and is listed on pages 201 and 202 of the 4th edition of the Seidemann Family Tree Book. His genealogy line is as follows; Friedrich, Friedericka, William I, William II, and Robert. He was the second son of William and Phyllis Wermuth, and the youngest of three children. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
