Larry E. Wilkens, 75, of West Bend was called home to be with his Lord and his father and mother on Sunday,4 February 2024, at his home.
He was born on 15 November 1948, to the late Ewald and Josephine (nee Delgado) Wilkens in West Bend. In his younger days he loved his fast cars and Harley. Larry spent many years in Boulder Junction building log cabins, trapping, fishing, hunting, and living the mountain man dream. He came back to West Bend, raised his son and daughter with the help of his parents and as the kids got to their teen years, he met his sweetheart, Judy. On 25 July 1997, they were united in marriage. Judy who also had a daughter and son and became a family. Larry shared his love of the outdoors with them and added camping, boating, fishing, and archery to the list. They were busy working together or their house remodeling, cutting and splitting their own firewood for heat in the winter. Summers were for camping, fishing, and fun on Lake Winnebago with the grandkids teaching them what they needed to know when they got older. Larry will be greatly missed but the fun and all the things that he taught them will be with them for the rest of their lives. Thank you for being the husband, grandpa, and special person you are, and the memories that will be shared long after. You’ve gone to your heavenly home.
Those Larry leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Judy Wilkens; two children, Brandon (Nicki Lewis) Wilkens and Alisha Tatrow; two step-children, Kristy (fiancé Rob) Gavin and Brian (Karren Coppersmith) Gavin; six grandchildren, Dakota Wilkens, Adrianna Tatrow, Jordan Dean, Jazmyn Dean, Hunter Gavin, and Kallen Walsh; other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his infant sister, Patricia.
A Celebration of Life in remembrance of Larry will be at a future date.
